Working Girl: Volume One Page 4

“When he was done, something in me snapped. I was done being his fuck doll and his punching bag. He was passed out on the bed. I managed to crawl to him and I pulled out his gun from his pants without him knowing.” Her breath hitched in her throat. “I pointed it at his head and I shot that motherfucker.”

“Good,” I said under my breath.

“I don’t know how long I sat there with the gun in my hand, but eventually someone came in. It was an Englishman named Alistair Harris. He had been at the party and saw the way I was treated. I guess you could say I caught his eye, too. Violet, he saved me. He got rid of the body and got me a doctor. Eventually he brought me back to Chicago.”

She took both of my hands in hers. “I owed him everything and he never asked for anything in return. He paid for my apartment and I didn’t have to work. But then he got sick and needed help. He had an escort service and he asked me to take it over. He knew I would take good care of the girls and make sure they were treated well. He was turning over the other part of his business to his son.”

“Deacon,” I whispered, the pieces finally fitting together for me.

“Yes.” She nodded. “After what his father did for me, I feel like I owe him. That’s why I sent him you and that’s why I want you to do what he asks next weekend.” She wiped the tears from her eyes. “I’d probably be dead if it wasn’t for his father. Or in jail.”

“Okay,” I agreed. “For you, I’ll do it.” I hugged her to me.

  “Thank you,” she whispered.

I pulled back. “But tonight, I have an appointment with a different client I need to get ready for. Work out the details with him for next weekend and let me know.”

We stood up from the couch and I walked her to the door. “Call me tomorrow when you’re up,” she said.

“Thank you for sharing your story with me, Leslie. I know it wasn’t easy.” I hugged her again.

She didn’t say anything but hugged me hard back. Over the years, she had become more of a mother figure to me than a boss.

“Have fun tonight.” She smiled and winked as she walked out.

I waved my fingers at her and shut the door with a smile. I turned around and leaned against the frame. If Deacon’s father got rid of his escort business, what did he leave him with? Whatever it was, it was important enough to take him from my bed this morning. Maybe next weekend I would find out. Tonight, another man was waiting to receive all of my attention.

  Chapter Six

  Deacon

After a few phone calls, I managed to smooth over the earlier crisis. It was a busy day and I had to do a lot of ass kissing. It wasn’t my favorite thing to do and I was not in a good mood. Combine that with the fact I had to leave a naked, sexy lady in bed that morning, and I was fucking pissed off. The only bright spot in my day was the text from Leslie to let me know Violet was all mine next weekend.

Charles and I had a dinner meeting, and when it was done, we stopped at the bar for an after dinner drink. I ordered my drink. When I turned around, I saw her. She was on the arm of some short, fat, bald guy, looking as gorgeous as ever. Tonight she was wearing a red dress that barely came to mid-thigh and matching heels. It was low cut enough to be sexy but not slutty. Her hair was piled on top of her head, revealing her sexy neck. She leaned down to hear something he said and laughed.

They were talking to the hostess, who was getting ready to seat them. She never noticed me. I watched as they walked to a table in the corner. He had his hand on the small of her back, dangerously close to her ass. I clutched the glass as I downed it. I waved the bartender over to order us a couple more drinks. They were sitting in my line of sight and I wasn’t going anywhere as long as they were here.

The bartender brought us our second round of drinks and Charles raised an eyebrow at me. “I thought we were leaving after one drink.”

“I changed my mind,” I replied tersely, my eyes still on Violet and her ‘date’ in the corner.

Charles followed my gaze, resting on the couple. “Who’s that?”

I sighed and set my glass down. I turned to him. “That’s the woman I was with last night.”

“Ah,” he nodded and looked back over at her. “She’s beautiful.”

  “She is,” I agreed.

“Who is she with?” he asked then took a drink.

I shrugged. “Another client, I suppose.”

“You don’t like it,” he stated. He knew me well. Charles worked for my father and had been around since I was twelve; sometimes I thought he knew me better than I knew my self.

“There’s something about her,” I admitted. “We had a great time together and I’m not happy it was cut short this morning.” I turned and glared at him.

“I know and I’m sorry, but it couldn’t helped,” he said, putting a hand up.

“You were right to call me,” I admitted reluctantly as I took another drink.

We sat in silence, each of us lost in our own thoughts. I couldn’t stop watching her in the corner. They were sitting very close together and I imagined his hand on her thigh under the table. Growing up, I always had issues sharing with others. That hadn’t changed as an adult; I still didn’t like sharing my toys.

In my head, I knew I had no claim on Violet. I had paid for her services the night before and tonight this gentleman had done the same. I’d been with countless escorts and had never cared that the next night they would probably be fucking another man. Then again, I usually never saw them again. I was a ‘one and done’ kind of man; there was less chance of a woman getting attached if we were only together once.

There was something special about Violet though. We didn’t do much talking, so I knew very little about her, but the sex had been amazing. It was like we connected on another level than two people fucking. I think she felt it too.

The caveman in me wanted to go punch this guy and grab Violet by her hair before dragging her out. My cock got hard at the thought of taking her to the bathroom, bending her over, and ramming my cock into her. What kind of panties did she have on? Maybe he asked her to not wear any like I had requested and was fingering her under the table.

I took a deep breath and reminded myself she was mine all next weekend. I was going to use her so hard, she would need a week to recover. She hadn’t come close to needing her safe word last night, but I planned to test her limits next time.

I ordered another drink, not sure how many I’d had so far. I wasn’t drunk, but I was feeling buzzed. It didn’t matter; I wasn’t leaving until she did. I didn’t even want to think about what they would be doing when they left the restaurant. I closed my eyes, hearing her soft moans and whimpers in my head, remembering how wet she got for me.

I watched her laugh at his jokes and put her hand on his arm. When their food arrived, he fed her bits of his meal. They even shared dessert. I reached my breaking point when he started nibbling on her neck.

The bartender brought me another drink and I tossed it back before slamming the glass down on the bar. That’s it. I’ll be damned if I was going to let that man put his hands on her anymore, much less put his dick in her. I would pay him back the money he lost tonight or find him ten other girls to be with, but he couldn’t have her.

I stood up from my bar stool. Charles put his hand on my arm to stop me. “What are you doing, Deacon?” he asked, a warning tone in his voice.

“I’m going to get what’s mine,” I said, shaking off his hand.

He shook his head as I walked off; he knew better than to stop me when I made up my mind and I was drunk. He was usually there to clean up the mess after, though.

I marched towards Violet, my hands clenched into fists at my side. He was still nibbling on her neck. I made a note to punch him right in the face so he couldn’t use those lips on anyone for a while.

When I was about ten feet away, two men stepped in front of me. I stopped dead in my tracks and one of them put his hand on my chest. “Where are you going, sir?” he asked, his voice low.
The asshole had body guards. I was so focused on Violet, I never noticed them. Who the hell was this guy?

Violet and her date looked up and her eyes widened when she saw me. She glanced at the man sitting next to her and back at me, her cheeks flushed. “He’s a friend of mine,” she said. She set her napkin on the table and stood up. “I’ll be right back.” She leaned down and kissed him on the cheek. I could feel the muscle in my jaw twitch when her lips touched his face and I had to take a deep breath to calm myself.

He opened his mouth to protest, but she had already stepped away from him. The two bodyguards moved immediately out of the way as she came up to me. She looked up at me with a smile on her face but I could see her anger in her green eyes. She grabbed my arm, digging her nails in so hard I winced. As we turned around, I gave him a smug look.

“What the hell are you doing here?” she hissed at me as we walked away from the body guards.

“I was here for dinner and was about to leave when I saw you and that asshole,” I sputtered back, nodding towards the corner.

“He’s a client of mine and has been for a long time,” she replied. “It should be no secret to you that I’m with other men.”

I wanted to argue with her and disagree, but she was right. I lifted a hand to brush a piece of hair from her face, but she leaned back and shook her head slightly. My heart sank. Maybe I was just another client for her.

  “I’m sorry,” I said.

“It’s okay.” She glanced back to the man waiting for her. “Now go home. From what I understand, I’ll see you next weekend.”

I nodded and watched as she returned to her client. I could see the hungry look in his eyes and I had to get out of there before I changed my mind and punched him.

I turned on my heel and walked back to Charles. “Are you okay?” he asked.

  I nodded. “Let’s go.”

“I thought you might want to. I already took care of the tab,” he replied and slapped my shoulder. “I called the driver around too.”

“Thanks,” I replied, willing myself not to look in the corner at Violet. I planned to go home and get a lot drunker. I wanted to pass out and erase any thoughts in my head of anyone but me fucking her.

We rode home in silence and after a mumbled goodnight, I went to my room. I found the whiskey right way and poured myself some. I drank it, relishing the feel of the warm liquid down my throat. I kicked off my shoes and took off my suit coat. I took off my tie and rolled up my shirt sleeves.

I poured some more and walked over to the bed. I sat down and opened the night stand, pulling out a picture of her. As time went on, I got it out less and less, but I was feeling lonely tonight and I missed her. She was the reason I only slept with escorts, not allowing myself to get close to another woman. I couldn’t take the pain of losing someone I loved again.

I put it back in the drawer and slammed it shut. Love was a weakness. My father taught me that you couldn’t have any weaknesses in this business or your enemies would exploit it. I had learned that the hard way and it had almost destroyed me.

My phone rang and I was grateful for the distraction. I took it out of my pocket and frowned when I saw it was Leslie. Had Violet already told her about tonight?

I swiped the phone with my finger and held it up to my ear. “Hello.”

“Deacon, how are you?” Leslie asked.

“Fine,” I sighed. “You can cut the niceties. I know why you’re calling. You talked to Violet, didn’t you?”

“I did. She told me you came up to her while she was with another client tonight,” she admitted.

“Nothing happened. He had a couple of goons with him and she set me straight.” I squeezed my eyes shut, willing the vision of him kissing her neck out of my mind.

“Good. I know you like her, but you can’t interfere with business. You, of all people, should appreciate that.”

“I do. It won’t happen again.”

“She asked me to call you. I knew you would understand.”

“Yes,” I replied. I sat up straighter as an idea popped into my mind. “What would it cost to have her all to myself?”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“If I didn’t want her to see anyone else and wanted her only for myself—what would that cost?” I asked again. It didn’t matter what she said; I would pay it.

“You basically want to pay for her services until you tire of her? I’m not sure Violet would agree to that. She’s worked hard to build up a really nice client base. When you were done with her, they would probably be gone.”

“Maybe. What if I paid for her for life?” My mind was spinning, thinking about how I could make this work.

Leslie was silent for a few seconds. “How about we see how things go this next weekend with you guys? If you still like her, maybe we can sit down and discuss it.”

“Fine,” I agreed. “Does she have anyone else after tonight?”

“I shouldn’t tell you this, but since it’s you, Deacon, I will. After tonight, she’s off until she sees you next weekend. She doesn’t take clients during the week unless it’s a special thing.”

“I see. Good.” I set my glass down on the nightstand. “We’ll be talking soon.” I hung up, a smile on my face. If I had my way, soon Violet would be all mine.

  Chapter Seven

  Violet

  I was furious with Deacon.

If it wasn’t for Leslie, I would cancel next weekend and put him on my list of clients to never see again. He had no right to come up to me when I was with someone. As we were leaving the restaurant, I stopped in the restroom to quickly text Leslie. I let her know what happened and how unhappy I was.

I was able to plaster a smile on my face and make it through the rest of the night without the client Steven noticing, but it was difficult. I even had to fake my orgasms with him and he was usually a very good lover. He was one of my first regulars when I started working for Leslie and one of my best customers. I felt bad I wasn’t totally present with him all night, but thankfully I don’t think he noticed.

I finally got back to my apartment around midnight. I told Steven I had a headache and he had his driver take me home. I felt bad lying, but I needed to be alone. He wasn’t particularly surprised though; I didn’t usually spend the night unless he specifically asked beforehand. This whole weekend was more drama than I was used to and a hot bath and glass of wine was badly needed.

I turned on some Adele and started the bath. I poured a big glass of white wine and went back into the bathroom. I stripped off the dress I had been wearing tonight. Steven’s favorite color was red. He always wanted me in red from head to toe and my hair up.

I left the clothes on the floor and studied my naked body in the full length mirror while the steam from the hot water swirled around me. I cupped my breasts in my hands, seeing a faint reminder of Deacon’s teeth on them.

I let them go and groaned in frustration. I wanted to be angry at Deacon, but I also wanted him to tie me up again and use me. I closed my eyes the whole time I was in bed with Steven, thinking about Deacon on top of me, fucking me. As much as I wanted to deny it, he had a hold over me, even after only one night.

I turned off the facet and climbed into the scalding water. I drew in my breath and sank down, letting the warmth engulf me, immediately relaxing my tense muscles. I leaned back against the headrest on the edge of the tub. This was exactly what I needed.

I was starting to doze off when I heard a knock on the door. I sat up, listening to make sure that’s what I heard. Someone knocked again, this time harder.

I stood up and grabbed a towel, drying off quickly before putting on my blue, short satin robe. It had to be after 2 AM. Who the hell was here? More importantly, how did they get past the doorman?

The knocking continued and I looked out of my peephole to see Deacon standing there. He was wearing jeans, a leather coat, and some tennis shoes. His hair was messy, not slicked back like I had seen so far. He was awkwardly holding so
me tulips.

“Let me in, Violet. I know you’re there. I promise I’m only going to stay for a few minutes,” he called through the door.

I pulled open the door, glaring up at him. “Deacon, what are you doing here?”

He flashed his boyish grin at me, his gaze moving up and down my body. I clutched my robe in front of me, trying to hide my tight nipples poking out of the material.

“Are you alone?” he asked, nodding at my attire.

“You know I am. Although how, I’m not sure. How did you know I wasn’t still with my client?” I asked, knowing that the mention of Steven would get a reaction from him.

His eyes clouded over for a second before he smiled again. He walked into my apartment and held out the bunch of tulips. “I wanted to apologize for my earlier behavior,” he replied.

I shut the door behind him as I took them from him and brought them to my nose, breathing in their scent. Tulips had always been my mom’s favorite. I hadn’t had any in so long; they reminded me of her and it was still too painful. I bit my lip to fight back the tears threatening to come to the surface.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asked, reaching out to touch my cheek.

“I’m fine,” I said with a shaky voice. “Tulips were my mom’s favorite. They remind me of her.”

“She’s not around?” he asked quietly.

“No, she died when I was fourteen. Cancer.” I chewed on the side of my mouth. I wasn’t going to lose it in front of him, not tonight.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I didn’t mean to cause you pain.”

“It’s okay,” I replied, taking a deep breath. “Thank you for the flowers.” I set them down on the table by the door; I would put them in water later.

“It’s the least I could do.” He looked me over again. “Were you in the bathtub?”
